Weekend in Racha

Papa with baby Hanna in the lake near Rache (Georgia)

After coming back to Georgia we decided to still jump out of Tbilisi for a short trip on the west from South Ossetia. First night in the tent and long fight to find a soup…

My pregnancy starts to give some effects: better don’t ask how many times on the way to Racha (mountainous region in Georgia, between South Ossetia and Svaneti) we stopped to check if maybe in this place we can order a soup. Just a soup, any! At the end Tom found in our car some old, instant one and made me happy with it.

Racha is also Georgia’s second most significant wine producing area: Khvanchkara, a sweet red wine (I just read that it was Stalin’s favorite one). But on Sunday shops were closed, I’m not drinking, Tom was driving.. and the wine stayed not checked.

One of the most important sights over there is Nikortsminda Church, from 11th century, in a village Ambrolauri. We stayed very close to there, at the lake, first time during our trip in the tent (we had a nice guest in our car). Funny thing happened in the morning: all of us was woken up by flying bullets, just around the tent and car. But we have never found out what was going on because… we didn’t want to take our heads up.

We just heard in the village that there are some bears around… And we saw a camp for youth of Saakashvili…

Our first book is out!

We have published our first book (for now just in Polish:) about our Central America Trip.
