For our South Pacific trip we had to pack all the luggage in two backpacks. So there was no space for a second laptop. But an additional Lenovo Yoga Tablet 10 seemed to be perfect: Extremly powerful battery, an external keybord. Is this the right tool for travel bloggers?
Thanks to Lenovo Germany we could test the Yoga Tablet 10 on our four-months-trip. It was our first tablet and we didn’t really know yet how useful it will be. Still at home we copied some movies – which were really useful on rainy days in the tent or just to show children on some island in Vanuatu the first cartoon in their life. No TV, no electricity, no movies, but we had a tablet.
Since some houses in the South Pacific islands had 12 Volt solar panels we could even load the tablet’s batteries, which are in general really powerful – one week without electricity was no problem. Really cool. For travel planning and orientation GoogleMaps and GPS also useful helpers (if we had internet) especially when you are in the middle of nowhere.
We are also enthusiastic about the external keybord – hoping to be able to update our blog and write articles. But in real life it was too difficult to edit, select, copy text and images with the touchpad-keyboard-combination. All the shortcuts you know from your laptop (e.g. Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V) for files and text don’t work. That makes transfering text and files from different devices is not handy.
In summary:
The Yoga Tablet 10 is a good travel mate when it comes to surfing, apps, maps etc. But if you really need to run a blog, handle images etc. you are better of with a little laptop not based on Android OS.

Hi! I bought this tablet in mid 2014 and now mostly i use it to watch movie. The battery is very good. But for travel, I was thinking to bring it on my short trip next month. Reading your post assures me that I should bring it to write on the road! Thanks for the inspiration :)
