Good travel team

You want to travel with your kids? Make two of them (at least)!

Few of our friends, who also travel with their kid, ask us: – But what do you do on the road when your kids are bored? Or when they miss other kids? When you have them 24/7 with no kindergarten and have to organise games and fun all the time?

Hmmm. The answer is easy: our girls have each other.

For running together, jumping, playing games with 4 hands, playing cards, playing an instrument and singing together, talking and screaming. For helping to climb a rock and for supporting in washing hands.

When we put the tent or cook, they play “seek and find”, or look for mussels. When we drive, they draw together (discussing the details of drawings) or sing songs. When we hug and whisper a bit, they like to do it too.

There is no way to give one of them a secret piece of chocolate. She will fast run to her sister and give her half of this piece, in secret of course.

When one wakes up faster and leaves the tent, the first words of the other one, after waking up, would be: – Where is my sister??

It’s lovely to listen, when they discuss things we saw together, topics, we explained them or situations, we experienced. – Mila, do you still remember how was “good morning” in Maori language? – Hanna, did you like more a seal or a dolphin? – Mila, it’s raining and it’s sunny, maybe we will have a rainbow, do you know why?

And the sweetest is to hear this crazy giggling, on the back seats of the car, or somewhere behind some big stone. Two little sisters, having their beautiful relationship, whispering some “I love you my little sister”. In this moments I feel that we did something… hmm… quite well.

And to some of the places in New Zealand we could have gone easier together with NewZealand.com.

That makes my heart feel warm. We have just had our second little girl and although it has been a big transition I can already see the love growing between them. How do you children cope with all of the change? Do you have a permanent home and school that you all come back to? x

Yeeees, We are mainly at home in Berlin, where they go to kindergarten, and only from time to time we make few-month-trips!

Wow. This is a cool perspective. Being the oldest girl of four, I remember we were arguing all day long. As an adult, in retroperspective, I see now this also was a way of not feeling alone, but as a kid I gave me a lot of stress also.

Also, I was wondering: what language do they speak when playing together? I would guess German, but I’m not sure.

    Warm greetings!

It depends! On the game: if they play something more connected to (German) kindergarten – then in German. If its a game we were playing together – then Polish. And now – sometimes even English, if they continue something they started with other kids here.
