Please forgive us. We had to start with holidays during those holidays. So before hard-core travelling, interesting places and valuable people’s stories – a bit of just relax on the beach. Will you survive it? :)
Just out of Auckland: on the east- Waitakere Ranges, forest and wild black sand beaches. Stunning, truly stunning, and very dangerous, with strong surf and always present rips. Somebody told us that Eddie Vedder almost drowned there. Somebody else told us that there was a TV show called “Piha Rescue”, due to so many accidents and need of being rescued here. Ah, and the serious “Xena, Warrior Princess” (do you remember??) was shot here!
Hot black sand, hard to stand to walk on it. Wind step dunes, shimmering in the sun. Already having a walk to one of those beaches (Karekare, Bethells, Piha or Muriwai) is a beautiful challenge. What to say: we were just running, jumping and screaming from happiness, when we arrived.
Doing this so-called nothing: we were counting waves, running after the the birds, having serious talks about saving people’s lives, hugging, getting dirty sandy hands, cleaning them in the water, running away from the waves, counting waves…
We still have to get used to the fact that we are on the road. That there are no serious deadlines, that we can this or that, that we are 24/7 together. We (me and Tom) also have to get used to having kids non-stop with us. And you know what? Those kids are all the time talking and asking questions! After whom? :)
Our first book is out!
We have published our first book (for now just in Polish:) about our Central America Trip.

Oh, my… West Auckland beaches is definitely something that I miss the most of all NZ :) and I envy you, of course – all this beautiful country is still ahead of you! Have fun :)
It’s funny, when I think about NZ, I’m not thinking about beaches. Although I lived there for a few years as a kid and I think we used to go to Taranaki Beach. But what you’ve shown looks really good.
Great photos, looked like you had a fun time : )
We were just missing the sun so much this winter! :)
