What we don’t need?

Mila and Anna in the grass

One parents’ magazine made an interview with us. But then they told us they cannot publish it. Why? Because they would loose their advertisement clients. Why?? Because we don’t need gadgets.

This made me seriously laugh. Why our kids don’t need a „small traveller“ potty? Because when Hanna or Mila want to pee – they go and pee, under the tree for example. Why we don’t need a transportable bath tube? Because we can swim in the lake, river or take a shower, or make a shower.

Since our blog got a bit more popular, there is no week when we don’t get some offer: some toys company want to give us a toy (not only a bit silly but also big and heavy), which can „become a best friend of our girls on the way“. Very cool and sweet idea, but who will carry it in some mountains? (;

Then, there are those special for kids plastic plates, cups and bowls. With hello kitty or mickey mouse. Once I saw my friends being terrorised by the plate with some cat, their son didn’t want to eat from anything else!

Or those driers for pacifiers! That your pacifier is always perfectly clean. Not talking about all the anti-bacterias special gels for hands, feet, i don’t know what else.

And not mentioning all the electronic equipment, because „we all know that kids cannot stand a car drive without watching cartoons or playing computer games“. Whaaaaat? I don’t know, maybe we are really very different. That we think that our kids don’t need much *things*. That all the world around, talks and inspiration, can be enough.

We, ourselves, also don’t *own* much. Actually we spend money only on the camera stuff, tickets and the books. So flights and books companies are always very welcome for cooperation (-;

To make it clear: we, of course, use some things for the kids while travelling (for safety and comfort), like a car seat, like a bike seat, like a carrier to carry them on our back. We have rain jackets, tent and a cooker. And our girls have their beloved teddy bears, we play some games (not only stones and sticks (;, but… its much nicer to built a kite together with papa, to make a necklace from a painted pasta, to draw a map together instead of beautiful, interactive, new game on your laptop?

Of course all the offers are nice, and we are thankful for them, but we simply believe that it’s better to give your kid twice more time than twice more money (in whatever).

(did I, with this post, close all the doors for any sponsoring of our future trips??? uuuups ; – ))))

    Anna,
    you speak the right words! There is no need for such stuff. Luckily Hania and Mila are very curious and unafraid great kids. They will do just fine with Mommy and Daddy instead of TV and games pad.
    I am so glad you always knew how to raise your children, so that the will be consious, open citizens.

    Love that you can do that, there are some of us that just like stuff to make our lives easier but still not love it. Very great of you.

    Bardzo podoba mi się i popieram Wasz sposób myślenia. Na razie nie mam pieniędzy, ale jak już je będę miała to też nie będę ich wydawała na głupoty, zbędne śmieci. Pozdrawiam!
