Kids are travelling

Parents like to travel also without their kids. Do the kids like to travel without the parents, what do you think? And when to start this?

Hanna started going to “kindergarten” (everything depands on the definition of kindergarten, right?) when she was 1,5 years old, just after coming back from our trip around the Black Sea. She was very open, communicative and social person – I almost had no doubts about this decision. First weeks were very good, she was happy and I could come back to work.

After few months in our kindergarten I heard that the kids are preparing for… a trip. For 3-day-long trip! Our Hanna was strong and cool but… little girl, who is not even 2… for 2 nights away…? Yes, I had many questions in my head. I remember first trip with staying over night somehow in primary school, I guess I was 12! Most of the mothers of 2-year-old kids, which I knew in Poland, were still at the maternity leave, staying with their kids 24/7.

But this kindergarten was doing a trip project every year. 2 weeks before the trip: kids were staying for a Friday night in the kindergarten pyjama party, to check how it is for them not to sleep at home. Hanna passed this test perfectly, on the Saturday morning breakfast (for all the families in the kindergarten – another nice idea!), she was the calmest from all the kids, even if she was the youngest. And so she did go.  Our little traveler, just have a look:

A year later, in the spring, we had no doubts about another trip. The stories and pictures from it – are still being told and watched by Hanna!

Next year – little Mila joined the fun. There was a little drama at night (we know from the teachers) but then big sister hugged her and everything was fine. The kids are just maybe 1 hour from us, so if anything really serious would happen – we jump to the car and be with them.

And for them? It’s not only the pride of packing their own backpacks, it’s not only the time with their friends (little ones and the teachers, who know them so well), it’s not only expieriences of running in the forest and watching the nature but also… the memories and stories connected not only with us! And this is beautiful!

So… our little travellers left yesterday for another trip outside of Berlin. And you know what? Also cool to be without them sometimes ;)

Our first book is out!

We have published our first book (for now just in Polish:) about our Central America Trip.

This is great idea, especially when kids are so open and calm about it.
And – of course – it’s (PROBABLY!) great to be without them for a while :)
