After long hospital weeks – we are finally all at home. Time to start dreaming further.
Not every pregnancy is nice and easy. But we have already known it from the first time: when Hanna didn’t want to stay in the belly and jumped out 6 weeks too early. I believe that Mila simply wanted to beat her sister and was born 8 weeks too early. Our fast, curious about life, girls.
Counting together my time in the hospital (to prolong the risky pregnancy as long as possible) and Mila’s getting bigger and stronger in the incubator box – we spend in Berlin hospital 15 weeks. Way too long.
Now we are finally home, girls are getting to know each other and we have more time to start travel preparations again. In 6 months we want to start our next family trip, to Central America. Starting in Mexico, driving south through Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. Now it’s time for the logistics: flights, shipping the car through Atlantic Ocean, making contacts, looking for nice sponsors, reading about all the corners of those countries and visiting grandparents, of course. And updating the blog!

Dear Anna, I have been following your blog the last couple of months. Many congratulations on the birth of your 2nd lovely daughter. I am happy (and a little envious) that you are now planning the 2nd trip abroad, the 4 of you. We have a son, 9 months now and both my husband and I used to love travelling until he was born. We thought we would just continue travelling once he is born. Because babies do nothing but eat and sleep. At least that’s what we thought…Our son was a so-called ‘Schreibaby’ and cried for hours, days, months. I ended up not wanting to leave the house or meet friends because it was so hard to get him to sleep or to get him to stop crying. Night war awful too and are still not brilliant. Car journeys that last longer than 10 minutes always result in a huge melt-down. As a traveller at heart I found and still find it difficult to live everyday life with a baby. I had imagined it so differently. I am writing you this so you know that it doesnt just take courage, time, money, preparation and the will to travel with small kids, it also takes children who play along and who are physically and emotionally up for it. I miss travelling so much but if we did what you did / are doing, I would hate every minute of it so I have no choice but to wait until things get easier with him (they already are) and to read your blog in the meantime.
